SALARY & BENEFITS
SWORN POSITIONS:
Starting Salary:
Deputy Sheriff Trainee: $40.17 per hour
Deputy Sheriff: $42.18 per hour
Upon successful academy completion, incumbent is eligible for promotion to Deputy Sheriff with a salary of approximately $87,734.83 annually
INCENTIVES/BENEFITS:
- Upon the Sheriff's recommendation, with the approval of the CEO or his/her designee, and subject to the applicable section of the VCDSA MOA 2021-2024 Amendment #1 (Article 36, Section 3601 and 3602) New Deputy Sheriff Trainee Hires may be eligible to receive a one-time New Hire Incentive of up to $10,000; New Deputy Sheriff Lateral Hires may be eligible to receive a one-time New Hire Incentive of up to $15,000.
- 20-30 days of annual leave (depending upon years of service)

- Textbook and tuition program
- Possible educational incentive of 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% based on the completion of Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree or, if qualified, for POST certification; plus other premium/incentive/bonus payments

- Biweekly contribution towards a cafeteria plan of your choice which presently includes: 5 medical plans, 1 dental plan, 1 vision plan, a "cash back" option, and up to 2.5% matching funds in a 401(k) plan.
- Possible bilingual incentive pay depending upon operational need and certification of skills, for those qualified.
